Philosophie von Steph Ango: Digitale Artefakte müssen als offene, lesbare Dateien existieren – nicht eingesperrt in proprietären App-Formaten oder Cloud-Diensten.

Prinzipien

  • Dateien in offenen, lesbaren Formaten (Plaintext, Markdown)
  • Kein Lock-in in Cloud-Dienste oder proprietäre Apps
  • Zukunftssicher: eine Notiz von heute soll in 100 Jahren noch lesbar sein
  • Werkzeuge sind vergänglich, Inhalte nicht
  • Auch der Schöpfer von Obsidian ist sich bewusst: Obsidian wird irgendwann obsolet — die .md-Dateien nicht

File over app ist auch ein Appell an Entwickler: Akzeptiert, dass jede Software vergänglich ist, und gebt den Nutzern Kontrolle über ihre Daten.
